However, the secret to the glory behind the fireplace doesn’t just lie within, part of this magic lies within the mantel above. Fireplace mantels have been historically used for hundreds of years and was once a proud way to determine your wealth. Nowadays, they are more commonly found and popular amongst all kinds of people. At Barnwood Addicts, we aim to make your fireplace the attraction of your home, by hand crafting a mantle special to you.

Each mantel is created from a single barnwood beam that we carefully remove and restore from old barns that hold hundreds of years of history in the New York Finger Lakes region.

Some of the mantels below are made of hand-hewn wood. Hand-hewn wood is not planed but carefully cleaned and sanded, leaving as much of the original hand hewing as possible.
